"Safe Harbor"

Summers for us mean a lot of time spent on the lake. Having grown up spending summer vacation at our cottage, and Michael spending his on his father's boat, then his own - our mutual love for the water has carried on that summer tradition with our family.

Having set out with the girls for one of our favorite spots, we returned to port as the weather began to change, with no place to take shelter inbetween our destination and home. Our decision proved wise, for as the girls were swimming, I could see lightning strikes north of us over the lake. Generally, storms will come in from the west or east, but this particular storm came in with a vengeance off the north shore. Although we were not far from port, we barely made it in, and many of the sailboats and even the fishing boats that were out, weathered the brunt of it on the lake. As Michael took us in, I stood on the deck making sure I captured as much of it as I could before the rain came. It started to pour just as we made it to our dock.

Our featured art for the month is an image of one the fishing boats that came into port behind us, just as the storm overtakes them.
